GaS Racing king and Queen of the mountain Rd 1

GaS Racing king and Queen of the mountain Rd 1

Round 1 of 3 for the GaS DH race series kicked off at One Giant Leap Llangollen with the weather gods on the riders side. Gareth & Will Weston had taped out a great track with a few alterations mixed into the fast, narrow, twisty and now very dusty track 3.
Race commentator Andrew cooper enjoying himself before work on Sunday.
With One Giant leap running the uplift and with the addition of a couple of buses the uplift ran seamlessly all weekend and riders easily getting 10+ runs during Saturday practise.

Elite rider Grant Boyce enjoying the dusty conditions.

With Extreme Medics on hand, riders were well looked after and with a good covering of marshals Saturday practice ran very smoothly.
Andrew Cooper taking provisions for the troops.

Sun bathing DH style.

Catch up time

Sunday morning arrived to reveal heavy overnight rain which had changed the dust to mud and the new off camber section was causing havoc

Oliver Coutts had the answer, grow an extra leg!

With practise over racing could begin. It started in sun.........
Jack Jenkins went on to win the youth Category

..........but as soon as the youths had finished the heavens opened and things were about to get........ loose

Shane Doyle getting very sideways
The heavy showers were here for the rest of the days racing.

One Giant leaps' Sarah Staples went on to win the women's category

The fastest time of the day was set by Expert James Hughes pinching the overall from elite rider Grant Boyce

 by 0.04 of a second
James Hughes fastest time of the day and 1st Expert

All in all a great weekends racing put on by Ged & Simon of GaS racing and One Giant Leap Llangollen. With 2 more races to come in this series I am sure the races will get even better so my advice would be book on and go to see what you missed out on. We had a ball!
